Important Dates for Election

  • December 20, 2023 - first day to accept a vote by mail application.
  • January 2, 2024 - first day for military/overseas to make an application for an official ballot.
  • February 8, 2024 - first day for early voting at the La Salle County Clerk's Office/first day the election authority can mail out a vote by mail ballot.
  • February 20, 2024 - last day to register to vote or change your address within the office of the election authority or by a deputy registrar.
  • February 21, 2024 - first day for grace period registration and voting.
  • March 3, 2024 - last day to register to vote online through the State Board of Elections website - www.elections.il.gov.
  • March 11, 2024 - last day for military/overseas to make an application for an official ballot.
  • March 14, 2024 - last day to accept a vote by mail application.
  • March 18, 2024 - last day for early voting at the La Salle County Clerk's Office.
  • March 19, 2024 - last day for grace period registration.    ELECTION DAY! - EXERCISE YOUR RIGHT TO VOTE!
  • March 21, 2024- voter registration re-opens.

Identification Needed When Registering in Person
If registering to vote in person, residents must display two pieces of identification. Neither needs to be a photo ID, but one must include a current address. Acceptable forms of ID include:

  • Illinois driver’s license
  • Illinois state ID
  • Employee or student ID
  • Credit card
  • Social Security card
  • Birth certificate
  • Utility bill in applicant's name
  • Mail postmarked to the applicant
  • Valid U.S. passport
  • Lease or rental contract
LaSalle County Early Voting and Grace Period Voting
If you miss the deadline for voter’s registration, you're still eligible to register and vote at the same time because of Grace Period Voting. See below for a link to information on Grace Period Voting in LaSalle County.

Early Voting: Skip the Election Day lines and vote early at the LaSalle County Government Center, 707 E Etna Road, Ottawa, IL 61350.

Grace Period Registration and Voting: Didn’t register by the deadline? Not to worry! During the early voting period, you are eligible for grace period registration.
