As of September 2017, Republic Services took over the garbage and recycling contract previously held by Illinois Valley Waste Services. With the change, we want to remind residents that one (1) can of garbage (45 gallon can, not weighing more than 50lbs) is allowed in weekly pick-up. Additional cans must have a City of Peru garbage sticker attached to the top bag of each additional can. Please do not attach sticker to the can. Any bags on the ground will need to have a garbage sticker on each bag. Additional bags not stickered will be left behind. Garbage stickers are $1.50 and can be purchased at the City Clerk's Office, Hy-Vee, Debo's, Shell Gas Station (Shooting Park Rd.) and Illinois Valley Waste Services. Should you have any questions, feel free to contact us at 815-223-0061 or Republic Services at 815-875-2293.

Please have garbage to the curb by 6:00 a.m.

The City of Peru will be flushing hydrants beginning Monday, October 16th starting at 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and will run through Friday, October 20th.

Residents could experience low water pressure and/or rusty water. Residents are urged to let their water run until it is clear.

Plank Road will be closed to through traffic between Ladd Road and May Road with a full closure occurring at the railroad crossing. Traffic normally passing through this area from/to points north of Ladd Road should use IL 89 as a detour. Traffic wishing to access businesses in this area that are located south of the railroad crossing should approach from the south only. Traffic wishing to access businesses in this area that are located north of the railroad crossing should approach from the north only. Access to the grain elevator will initially be from the south, but change to from the north as work progresses.

Peoria Street northbound will be closed at Rt.6 for the Area 3 Phase 2 Sewer Separation Project.
