Most children in grades Pre-K-8 attend Peru Elementary School District 124. Peru ESD 124 has two attendance centers: Northview Elementary School for children in grades PreK - 4, and Parkside Middle School for students in grades 5 through 8. The district offers its students a rich curriculum including preschool, gifted education, state of the art technology, an incredible hands on STEM lab, an outstanding fine arts program and a wide variety of extracurricular activities.

Augmenting the public education system is Peru Catholic School (grades Pre-K-8) and and two high schools (grades 9 to 12).
 

LaSalle-Peru Township High School District 120 is located in LaSalle, IL. The school district encompasses 184 square miles and serves the residents of LaSalle, Peru, Oglesby, Utica, Tonica, Cedar Point, Leonore, and Lostant; others attend St. Bede Academy located in Peru. Area high schools offer college preparatory courses, general academic studies and comprehensive vocational education programs.

Conveniently located four miles away in Oglesby, IL is Illinois Valley Community College which offer a wide range of associate degree programs, skills training, and special interest and non-credit courses. The district is primarily made up of La Salle, Bureau and Putnam counties as well as small parts of DeKalb, Grundy, Lee, Livingston and Marshall counties. District 513 serves approximately 145,000 residents and 6,000 students annually.
