It is unlawful to park on any public street or right-of-way following a snowfall of 3" or more until the snow and ice on such public street or public right-of-way has been plowed from curb to curb (effective 12 hours after snowfall).  Penalty of $25 to $500 plus towing fee.

If you are in need for some extra money you could apply for a job with the 2010 Census.  The Census Bureau will be holding job testing at the City of Peru Municipal Building Community Room.  The testing days are on Thursday January 7, Tuesday January 12, Thursday January 21 and Tuesday January 26.  There will be two testing sessions one is at 10:00 a.m. and the second is at 1:00 p.m.

The City of Peru is reminding residents of new laws in effect as of Friday, January 1, 2010, that are intended to make roads safer for motorists.

As of January 1, 2010, it is ilegal to compose, send or read text messages, read or compose e-mail, look at the internet or otherwise compose or send any type of electronic message while driving.  Another new law that begins on January 1, 2010, bans talking on cellular phones while in construction and school speed zones.  Users of hands-free or voice-activated devices are exempt
