Electric Department Maintenance Mechanic/Relay Technician

The City of Peru is accepting applications for a Utility Technician, in our Electric Department. Responsibilities will include configuration, and programming of microprocessor-based devices (PLCs / RTUs / Meters), operating and maintaining generators, SCADA system support functions & operations, AMI metering system, GIS mapping data collection and recording, networking and communications equipment / systems and fiber optic cable splicing and termination.  Troubleshooting, maintenance, and operation of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment / machinery is required. Working overtime and performance of duties in adverse conditions / weather will be required.  Candidates are required to have an associate degree in Electricity, Electronics, or equivalent military / professional training. Possess an Illinois class A CDL or can obtain one within 6 months of employment. Candidate must have the ability to lift a maximum of 100 pounds with reasonable physical stamina.  Candidates with a more extensive background in electric utility operations and maintenance are encouraged to apply.  Full-time position with competitive compensation and excellent benefit package.

Full-Time Information Technology (IT) Help Desk Technician

The City of Peru is accepting resumes for a Full-Time Information Technology Help Desk Technician.  This position will assist the IT Director with the City’s information technology operations, ensuring the department provides efficient and effective technical support service.  This includes, but not limited to, responding to help desk requests utilizing a ticketing system, trouble shooting system and network complications, installing and configuring various computer systems and network hardware.  Qualified individual will have a two-year degree (IT related preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.  IT certifications preferred.  Knowledge of Windows environment and Active Directory required.

Electric Department
Journeyman or Late Stage Apprentice Lineman

The City of Peru Electric Department is currently seeking an individual for a Lineman position (Journeyman or Late-Stage Apprentice).  This position is responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of overhead and underground electrical distribution systems. 

Qualified Journeyman applicants must have completed an approved 4-year Lineman Apprenticeship and should have experience in all phases of underground and overhead electric distribution.  Experience in rubber glove up to 15KV and hot stick capabilities up to 138KV are also required.

Qualified Late-Stage Apprentice applicants should have completed a minimum of two (2) years in an approved apprentice program.

All applicants must be able to climb poles, work underground in confined spaces and possess a Class A CDL.
