On Tuesday, August 1st the contractor working on improvements to the intersection of Plank Road with May Road will be completing work that will make May Road permanently one way eastbound between Plank Road and the newly constructed Commerce Drive. Westbound May Road traffic approaching the intersection will now be required to use Commerce Drive to reach Plank Road.

As part of this work the road closure on Plank Road between May Road and Commerce Drive will be removed, but the closure of Plank Road between Industrial Drive and Ladd Road will remain in place.

Persons with questions may contact the City Engineers office at 815-224-6020 for more information.

Beginning Monday, July 10th, Plank Road will be closed to through traffic between Ladd Road and May Road with a full closure occurring at the railroad crossing. Traffic normally passing through this area from/to points north of Ladd Road should use IL 89 as a detour. Traffic wishing to access businesses in this area that are located south of the railroad crossing should approach from the south only. Traffic wishing to access businesses in this area that are located north of the railroad crossing should approach from the north only. Access to the grain elevator will initially be from the south, but change to from the north as work progresses.

Starting Wednesday, May 17th, Peoria Street northbound will be closed at Rt.6 for the Area 3 Phase 2 Sewer Separation Project.

The City of Peru has begun testing and performing maintenance on fire hydrants. Residents can experience low water pressure, rusty water and cloudy water in the area they are testing.

Residents are urged to let the water run until water is clear. Testing should last throughout the summer.
