If you are interested in adding solar or wind generation to your property, please fill out the section of the Interconnection Request Application that is relevant to the size of generation facility you are requesting (25 kW AC and Smaller or Greater than 25kW AC).
Complete the Building Permit Application and submit with architectural plans stamped by a State of Illinois licensed structural engineer. If the solar array is ground mounted, please include a site layout, including setbacks from property lines, and other existing structures on the property (i.e. the principal structure, fences, garages, sheds, etc.).
Solar companies submitting applications/plans will need to provide proof of authority to act on behalf of the property owner.
All contractors/subcontractors physically working on site will need to be fully registered with the City prior to permits being released.
Please note the following for larger projects:
- Solar array proposals above 25kWAC and above the City’s Net Metering Agreement will qualify for interconnection as a PURPA array. Additional information and instructions will be provided by the City’s Electric Department and the IMEA.
- A Solar Study will be required at the property owner’s or solar company’s expense. Any infrastructure improvements to the City’s electrical system/grid required as a result of the Solar Study will be at the expense of the property owner or solar company. Prepayment will be required.
You may submit applications in the following ways:
- Email applications to [email protected]
- Drop off at the Engineering and Zoning office of the Municipal Building (south end)
- Mail it to Engineering and Zoning, ATTN: Engineering & Zoning, 1901 4thSt, Peru, IL 61354.
Applications will be reviewed once all information is received. Upon issuance of any permits, work may commence. Inspections will be required of the framing/structure. Once construction is completed, but before being provided permission to operate, a witness test will need to be performed by the City of Peru at the property owner’s or solar company’s expense. Upon successful completion of witness test, the City of Peru will complete the Certificate of Completion found on the last page of the Net Metering Application and return a copy to the customer.
Any applicable net metering credits will be processed by the City Clerks. You may contact them at 815-223-0061.
