Building Permit Information
If you are considering improvements to your home or property, you should know that virtually every enhancement requires a building permit. Please contact the Building and Zoning office as to whether a permit is required. Building permits are required for most types of home improvements including new installation or replacement of the following:
New Home or Commercial Building
- Demolition of Buildings
- Pools (above ground, in-ground and storable pools)
- All Sheds
- Room Additions
All Vacant Properties must be registered within the City of Peru. You can read the default Vacant Property Ordianance (552 KB) for details and then fill out default Vacant Property Registration Form (68 KB) and submit back to the City of Peru Building and Zoning office.
Permits can be applied for at our offices between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Click here for a default Building Permit Application (105 KB) or they are available at the Peru Municipal Building.
All Contractors must be registered within the City of Peru. You must fill out the Contractor' Registration Application and return to the Clerks Office.
