Schweickert Stadium at Veterans Memorial Park is home to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp, a collegiate wood-bat summer league baseball team! The Pistol Shrimp are one of 17 teams in the historic and highly competitive Prospect League that spans 7 states across the midwest from Iowa to Pennsylvania. Tickets: General admission for the 2023 season is FREE compliments of the Pistol Shrimp and City of Peru.
Fan Services: Look for the bright orange Fan Services canopy if you need assistance of any kind - injuries, lost & found, prize pickup, assistance to/from parking lot, and any other help. This is also where you can also obtain a “21+ wristband” if you’re planning to purchase alcoholic beverages. Fan Services remains open throughout the game, and closes 5 minutes after game has ended.
No Outside Food and Beverage: Veteran's Park is closed to outside food and beverage during Pistol Shrimp home games.
Concession Stand: is open during games through the 7th inning. Snack, beverage and ice cream novelties are available which include: water, soda, sports drinks, candy, popcorn, pretzels, and nachos.
Food Trucks: One or more food trucks are on site and serving during all home games. Check the Pistol Shrimp social media on game day for that night’s scheduled vendor(s). If you are interested in being a food vendor, email: [email protected].
Beer Garden presented by Tangled Roots Brewing Company: The beer garden serves domestic beers, selections from Tangled Roots Brewing Company, as well as hard seltzers, Twisted Tea, specialty cocktails and mixed drinks from Star Union Spirits. Guests must be wearing a “21+ Wristband” (obtained at Fan Services) to be served.
Beverage Vending Machine: For your convenience, there is a vending machine offering cold sodas, water, and other beverages located by the concession stand. The vending machine is cash only.
Shrimp Shack Merch Stand: Pistol Shrimp merchandise such as hats, jerseys, t-shirts, hoodies, koozies, car decals and programs is available at the Merch Stand during home games through the 7th inning. Kid sizes are also available!
Programs: Programs are available for $1 each at the Merch Stand. They contain 32-pages of history, trivia, coupons, a scorecard and player information. Each program comes with a numbered ticket which gives the purchaser a chance to win a Lucky Number prize if your number is called during the game.
Theme Nights: Almost every home game has a special theme, making each a unique experience. Some theme games offer pregame entertainment such as a mini-concert, others encourage fans to dress up. To see a list of theme and promotional nights, click here!

From Interstate 80:
From Interstate 80 take Exit 73 for Plank Rd. Head south on Plank Rd approximately 1-3/4 miles. The entrance to Veterans' Park will be on the west side of the road (on your right).
From Route 6:
From Route 6 aka 4th St, turn north onto Peoria St. Continue north on Peoria St through the Shooting Park Rd intersection and through the roundabout, taking the second exit for N. Peoria St. Continue north to the Midtown Rd and N. Peoria intersection and turn left onto Midtown Rd. At the Midtown Rd and Plank Rd intersection, turn left and the temporary entrance to Veteran's Memorial Park will be on the west side of the road (on your right).
From IL-251:
From IL-251, go to the IL-251 and Shooting Park Rd intersection. Take Shooting Park Rd west to the Peoria St intersection. Turn north and continue on Peoria St through the roundabout, taking the second exit for N. Peoria St. Continue north to the Midtown Rd and N. Peoria intersection and turn left onto Midtown Rd. At the Midtown Rd and Plank Rd intersection, turn left and the temporary entrance to Veteran's Memorial Park will be on the west side of the road (on your right).
Veterans Memorial Park offers Wiggley Field Dog Park, 3 baseball and softball fields, a playground, and 2 shelters.
PARKING:
The main parking lot is a striped concrete lot located up the drive and to the east of the ball fields. The west side of this lot has 11 handicapped parking spots with another 74 unreserved spots. A smaller paved and striped parking lot is located to the southeast and can accommodate approximately 34 vehicles. Additional unstriped parking is on the 3 acres of leveled screenings north of the existing paved lots which should accommodate approximately 240 additional vehicles.
AMENITIES:
Restrooms are located on the east side of the concession stand between the Big League and Little League fields. During the Pistol Shrimp season, an additional 4 port-a-pottys are located to the south (right field corner) of Schweickert Stadium and 4 more are located between the playground and grandstand. There are also 2 port-a-pottys located on the east side of the dog park.
There are two park shelters. One is located northwest of the concession stand, and the other to the west between the big league and softball field. No reservations are taken for these shelters.
Food truck hookups are located behind the grandstand seating. There are two 50 amps & one 30-amp hook-ups.
The playground is to the west of the little league field, north of the food truck hook-ups.
The dog park, Wiggley Field, is located south off the southwest corner of the parking lot.
A water fountain is located on the north side of the concession stand.
Free Wi-Fi is offered in the Parks. At this time, it will only be on for games, with full-time Wi-Fi being offered in the near future.
No smoking is allowed in the park.
The press box is located atop the grandstand seating at Schweickert Stadium.
SPECTATOR SEATING:
Schweickert Stadium - New field renovations include 575 stadium seats, new for the 2023 season. There are also 4 smaller sets of metal bleachers, two on each side of the field.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own portable seating.
