Community Service Officer Blake Frund started his emergency services career with the Ladd Fire Department in July of 2006. From there, he wanted to see what it would be like to on the other side of the radio.
May of 2011, he started dispatching part-time with the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office where his brother, Jacob was a Deputy. This is where he became certified as an Emergency Medical Dispatcher and full access LEADS. Blake loved what he did by helping people in their worst times and in December of the same year; he started dispatching part-time for Bureau Emergency Communications. Due to working all of these hours, he hung my helmet up with the Ladd Fire Department.
In January of 2012, Blake continued my career dispatching with the Peru Police Department as a part-timer. In Peru, he became certified as an Emergency Police and Fire Dispatcher. While being part-time at all of these agencies he applied with the Oglesby Police Department and the Spring Valley Police Department where he received both part-time jobs.
With all of this dispatching, and missing being a firefighter. January 2014, he applied with the Peru Fire Department under the direction of Fire Chief Jeff King. From there, he did multiple trainings and classes to better myself as a firefighter.
In March of 2014, Blake was hired as a full-time dispatcher with LaSalle Police Department. Two years later in September of 2016 began the inception of Illinois Valley Regional Dispatch. He started with IVRD as a full-time dispatcher the night IVRD took over where he still works part-time.
In February 2018, Blake became the city of Peru’s first Community Service Officer. He did 3-month training with a certified Officer and learned officer safety and self-defense. He also learned how to do fingerprinting and sex offender registration, which he currently is in charge of. A few months later, he took a 40-hour class to become a Certified Car Seat Technician and took a 16-hour class to become a certified as ICC Certified Property Maintenance Inspector.
