The City of Peru Building and Zoning office is ready to help when you have a project to complete.  Whether you are a homeowner or a contractor when questions arise you can call our office.

Building Permit Information

If you are considering improvements to your home or property, you should know that virtually every enhancement requires a building permit.  Please contact the Building and Zoning office as to whether a permit is required.  Building permits are required for most types of home improvements including new installation or replacement of the following:

  • New Home or Commercial Building
  • Demolition of Buildings
  • Signs
  • Decks
  • Fences
  • Pools (above ground, in-ground and storable pools)
  • All Sheds
  • Garages
  • Room Additions
  • Driveways

All Vacant Properties must be registered within the City of Peru. You can read the  Vacant Property Ordianance for details and then fill out  Vacant Property Registration Form and submit back to the City of Peru Building and Zoning office.

Permits can be applied for at our offices between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.  Click here for a Building Permit Application or they are available at the Peru Municipal Building.

All Contractors for Residential work must be registered within the City of Peru. You must fill out a Contractor License Application and return to the Clerks Office.
